BG & Tache

I think BG and Tache are going to miss each other. Maybe BG should stay here.

This book has a fairly interesting premise. A teenage boy who hears voices in his head…four distinct voices. That alone is a fairly good start but add to the mix that each of those distinct voices is an individual soul so he’s not hearing voices because he’s crazy but because he talks to them, everyone so far has assumed he’s nuts. Add to that, each soul is gifted with abilities: time travel, predicting the future, raising the dead and possessing another person’s body and now you have a pretty full mix.

That’s only what we learn in the first few pages though and things get very complicated rather quickly because Aden soon discovers he’s not the only weird thing in the world. There are also ghosts, vampires, werewolves, witches, fairies and goblins; all of which have taken a particular interest in him and that doesn’t even take in to account that he his proximity to the dead creates flesh hungry zombies that he has to kill. He’s had a rough life already but things really get complicated when a strange girl enters his life and sets off a chain of events that will probably get him killed.

There’s quite a lot going on in this book. That might just be setup for the series but the book ends a bit abruptly. It would have been better to extend this story a bit further or move some of the plot components up in the timeline to even things out. It’s not at all a bad story, just one that left me not really wanting more but like I was only halfway in an epic that someone sliced in half. Almost as if the entire book is about moment and we still haven’t reached the summit.
